You can rar and only set the file size limit to 650 if it is just an avi
then it will create a 650 mg file
and a second 50 mg file.
all sizes approx.

if you wish to do a vcd, then lower the quality, to accomidate the smaller CD media

Have you tried a test burn? Some avi files that look too big to fit on a cd actually work fine . I burned one to cd once that was listed as about 740mb, and it actually only took up about 680mb on the cd. You could try using a cdrw first so you don't have to worry about ruining a cd.

It's late but...here I go.....you can
download for free virtual dub 1.4 and
divide your avi in 700 mb fragments and
save them in different disks.

It can also damage your burner over burning... enable the over burning feature and it will tell u so on Nero 5.5 and above... just a small FYI... you can burn up the laser lens doing it... :)
