If you looking for free host, you can try geocities.com, tripod.com lot of them

You can use Macromedia dreamweaver or MS frontpage to design a webpage. Fairly simple

I recommend you use htmldog.com to learn as much as you can about HTML and CSS. Then, sign up to a free f2g.net account and upload what you've made.

Using Dreamweaver or FrontPage might be quicker and seem better at first. However, they both still take control of the code produced. When you write it "by hand" (e.g. in Notepad) you have complete control and so can make it work/look exactly how you want it to.

By the way, the free f2g.net account has SSI (server-side includes). If you learn how to use SSI, you can have consistent headers, footers, menus and so on across all of your pages. (Very useful and much, much less maintenance.)

I hope this helps,

James

Dreamweaver offers a good vehicle for learning JAVA.

I believe it's the industry standard.

If you're going to put the time and energy into creating your own website, why not give yourself the gift of a marketable skill to boot?

As per Dr. Zhivago, DreamWeaver seems to be the standard.

Keep in mind that if you use FrontPage or other M$ stuff, you'll need to clean it up with a de-moronizer.

Many hosting sites have templates or 'shake n make' utilities for your use.

For no frills, just use the editor in Netscape or Mozilla.

Mine is about as plain and simple as it gets:

Again, as per Dr. Zhivago, a maketable skill would be a real good thing.
