Hotmail - enable cookies

May 5, 2005 at 06:21:55
Specs: Windows XP, 512

My computer (and hotmail) was OK but suddenly since a couple of weeks ago, I could not access Hotmail and got a message saying that I had to enable cookies in order to access hotmail. I tried the normal procedure (Tools, Options, Privacy, Low security, eneble cookies) but it does not work.
The only way I can access hotmail is to delete all Temporary Internet files every time I want to access hotmail before entering The Internet Explorer (it's a nuisance!)
Does anybody know why this happens and how to get the IE to work normally?
Thanks

I had the same problem and although googling around and trying different things nothing seemed to work more than temporarily - but then it suddenly worked! I'm not sure, but I think the final touch was by changing my shortcut link/ favourite (which I used to get to hotmail) to "www.hotmail.com" (and nothing else i.e not the login.passport=2utehd=hnd and stuff- just www.hotmail.com). Try it. Please check back and tell me if it worked or not!

I'm having that problem too. I used to be able to sign into my hotmail account but now I can't. It's says that cookies are disabled. I tried the privacy settings and allowed all cookies and even tried resetting all the settings to default. I just tried the security tab and custom level, prompt...disable...disable...enable...enable and it still doesn't work...
I tried deleting all the cookies under the general tab. Don't know what else to try...

If you figure out this problem, please let me know...

I've been having the same problem in the last few weeks. My cookies are obviously enabled (shop online frequently, lowered security, did all the steps). With me it works intermittently, I can't access with IE in the morning, then a couple of hours later it works. The only surefire way I can access hotmail every time is to use Firefox instead of IE just for the hotmail site LOL. Contacted Hotmail support- no help "we are aware of this and have archived this case blah blah..."

For the past year or so I have had problems signing into hotmail. When I type in hotmail.com the url goes to https://login.passport.net/uilogin.srf?lc=1033&id=2

After typing in my password, I would get a blank page, then I would click back once or twice and I would be in hotmail and could access my messages. A few days ago that stopped, nothing worked, I could not access hotmail. When I go to "account services" https://accountservices.passport.net that shows that I am signed-in. But no matter what I do, I just get a blank page or I click and nothing at all happens.

I have Windows XP. I have no trouble accessing hotmail, through my MAC.
