Outlook and outlook express are supposed to be able to get mail from hotmail accounts. I have done as suggested in the help on hotmail, and it does not work. I tried at home with Outlook express and I tried at work where I use Outlook 2002. I get this login window that you get if you mistyped the password and have re-typed a couple of times but it cannot connect. Finally, a window says something about a unknow error. Hotmail is an option when you choose HTTP in your account settings in Outlook so that should be correct, and I re-typed my password. I also have different connection to internet ADSL at home and wire at work, different firewalls, and I disabled Bitdefender (antivirus/firewall) so none of that should have anything to do with my problems. Can anybody help?

I've tried some more now. I have a swedish language setting, so that is my translation from Outlook but it does not say so much more. " An unknown error has occurred. You should restart Outlook" After I have tried I get a message when trying to login on hotmail in IE that says that my account is temporarily locked due to too many attempts to login.
In Outlook Express I get this, it is in swedish but I think you will get it
Det gick inte att söka efter nya meddelanden på HTTP-servern.
Konto: 'Hotmail', Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protokoll: HTTPMail, Port: 0, Secure (SSL): Nej, Socket-fel: 12019, Felnummer: 0x80004005

I am now back at my Outlook (not express) this is what it reads on the error message on the send progress box (swedish)
Uppgiften Hotmail: Mapp:inkorgen Synkroniserar meddelandehuvuden. rapporterade felet (0x80004005): Ett okänt fel har uppstått. Sparar allt arbete och starta om programmet.
translation: Task Hotmail. folder:inbox syncronising headers. reported error (0x80004005): an unknown error has occurred. Save all and restart the application.
I guess that this has something to do with that hotmail limits the attempts to login. I know that I have the right password, but it is just like that it would be the error. On the account settings you can choose a secure authentification something (my translation again, you know what I mean) You are supposed not to check for this, but I have tried both with and whitout this when it did not work.
