host file question

Actually if you don't want to restrict the websites you visit you can delete it. I don't have one and when windows creates one I delete it.

It is protected sort of. If you use your system as a limited user you should not be able to access that to delete it. Some malware tries to delete hosts.
Make a limited account and use it instead of an admin account. Scan for malware known to remove hosts files. Get a good hosts file and install it and check it that it only contains 127.0.0.1 to bad places and the correct ip address to know good places. Might consider a firewall that protects hosts files.
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.
