Comment:

I'm using Word 2003 to type a manuscript. Suddenly I get a horizontal row of "square" dots across the page, which I cannot get rid of. How do I remove them?

If you are typing in Normal View, then maybe the dots are the page break ?

Change to Print Layout, and see if the line of dots corresponds to the end of the page.
