it set up a home or small office network and now i wish to remove it from my system so my files are no longer shared. system restore has the problem that the calender isnt visible as a message saying: ''There are no restore points created yet for this day. To restore immediately, pick another day and restore point, and then try again.'' shows up instead. im sure i have restore points in an earlier month, but i cant get to them. could you help me remove the network or all the shared icons in a proper way on XPpro please. If possible on Win98SE as well. Thanks

Why not just go into the Shared Document Properties (My Computer) and just "unshare" the folders you no longer want to be available on the LAN? Unless you give sharing permission on your pc, no one can access them.

Then I guess I don't understand your question, since what I wrote will accomplish exactly what you indicated your problem was. DO you want to completely remove the PC from the network? Unplug it. If you want to stay connected to the LAN but for some peculiar reason become anonymous. change your workgroup name and don't tell anyone.
