Yeh seems like your browser has been hijacked.

Try some spyware programs likes CW Shredder or Spybot Search and Destroy.

Do a google search on them or try download.com you will be able to get the trial versions to fix this problem.

Yeh Ad-aware sometimes fails to get rid of browser hijacks.

try CWShredder and see if it does the job.

Another program you can try is Hijack This..

Search for them both in google and see how you go.

With the tss error have a look at the following links below..

tss.exe errors

What is tss.exe?

thanks every boby for your help. in the end sybot, adaware, did not cut the mustard. i installed spy sweeper and it found 17 items not detected by either ad or spy. it also provides a shield to protect your home page and other bits, so far impressed, special thanks to john o for the link to the article. very imformative.

thanks.
