Hi,
I've been annoyed with this problem since you came that day not got to the bottom of it.
When a user opens IE, there is a long delay before they receive a 404, no matter what they set the home page to. Once they then click Home or Refresh it works fine for that session.
I have removed all add-ins, disabled 3rd party extensions, turned off auto detect proxy, and turned off check if its default browser. Sometimes it works by turning that off but more often than not it doesn't.
Lastly, i have logged on as a user that hasn't on the machine before. Loaded IE and got the delay. Once you open Internet Options, click a few tabs, but make no changes, close Options. Close IE. It then works fine whenever that user logs on again, even after a restart. Its as though the proxy isn't been applied the first time. Its set via GPO.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Karl

It seems English is not your first language since your first sentence makes absolutely no sense at all.
If you are having internet connection problems then you should at least describe what kind of internet connection you have. Are you on dialup/DSL/Cable? Are you on a network behind a router? Is the computer part of a domain?Have you tried other browsers such as Firefox?

Sorry, i send that email to someone and then posted it here, didn't realise it had that first sentence in it !
We are on adsl and all computers are on the domain, and it is affecting them all.
We go via a router then out to the isp proxy server.
Doesn't delay with firefox.

I would suggest clearing all history and temporary internet files as well as resetting the home page for each user.

If it's set in IE...try unchecking the "Automatically detect settings" from the LAN settings (Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections ->)
