I have an IBM think pad that keeps defaulting to msn.com for the IE6 home page, NO MATTER WHAT I DO......I've gone into regedit and looked at/changed some items, but nothing seems to work....after restarting the notebook it always goes back to msn.com...?????? This is driving me nuts.

You might try microsoft's new spyware program, which also has a section for this kind of thing. I'd say it was definitely spyware only I never heard of spyware sending you to msn.com. Good look.

faster, better, MORE!!

If you simply go to the homepage that you want to use and then close IE it isn't saved as the home page. After getting to the page that you want as your home page go to Tools> internet options> use current and then it should save.

The path you may wish to revisit in the Registry is: HKLM\Software\Microsft\Internet\Explorer\Main

If this path is the same on your pc, the Variable to look for is Default_Page_URL

Let us know what you find. Don't change anything unless you are completely confident first.

Use response number 2... it's the right
one. Fiddling around in the registry can
be disastrous.

Once I thought I was wrong, now I'm not so sure!

The registry does need to be handled with care and using other methods are often preferred. I however spend a lot of time making changes within the registry manually and through scripting and have never had a problem. Either way I wish you success.

Check your anti-spyware program if you have one. The same thing was happening to me and I eventually realized it only happened after my system was scanned for spyware. The anti-spyware program I have has a default home page under it's general settings tab and it was automatically set to MSN. I've set it to my regular home page and it's never happened again.

I hope this helps. Good luck!
