Hi,
I want to network my computer with my sister-in-laws laptop, and then setup windows ICS, and just have a few questions.
Can I simply set this up with an ethernet cable and 2 or 3 network cards? I will be using my desktop PC as the main computer.
But, in about 10 days I will be setting up a new broadband connection with Telstra on a one-port broadband modem supplied by telstra, however because it is one port, can I still still share my internet connection with my sister-in-law via windows ICS?
I am generally pretty good with computers and am more than confident that I can setup a Home Network between us on my own, however, will I only need to purchase an ethernet cable and 2 network cards? Is there anything else I need to buy or this fine for networking two computers?
Thanks very much in advance,
Mike.

Save yourself some time and aggrevation.Wait till you get the broadband and then purchase a 4 port wired or wireless router. You will be much happier than with the other networking situation. I would go with a wireless router and just buy 1 wireless pcmia card for the laptop and then 1 10/100 lan card for the desktop.
The modem ( by your ISP)will wire straight to the router and then because the router is next to the desktop, hard wire to it and then the laptop can be used anywhere else in the area along with hotspots all over the place as a portable. That way you don't have to be worried about the wiring problems. And if you get another desktop/laptop then it is easy to set it right up with the wireless card for it.IN THE MATTERS OF STYLE,
