i have an LG drive that i got about maybe 4 or 5 months ago, and i got some Dual Layer dvd+r's and they wont recognize in this drive at all. the logo on the back of the box is the same thats on the front of my drive (the RW DVD+R DL logo) im quite concerned about this because i thought they would work. i didnt buy the drive for this exact purpose, but i was told that it would work fine with these discs. if anyone knows anything it would be great. please help.

Hello. You might need a firmware upgrade, but that won't be easy.
LG does not support this product or offer firmware or software updates. It was an OEM product, they don't even acknowledge the model's existence.
However, if you know where the drive came from, that is a start. For example, if it was an HP system it came from, then you can get the firmware on their site. Not sure if it searches for an HP system or whatever.
Also, LG GWA4161B is the same as GSA4160b, but without DVD-RAM support. Not sure if its useable. Good luck

i bought this drive from a store not to far from where i live for 80 dollars. it wasnt from an HP system, the person i bought it from didt say it was, so maybe it could have been i dont know. all i know is i got it brand new. this is a little weird, it says its aa dual layer but it wont read them. im confused.
