I have a Epox 4SDA5+ which is supposed to have USB 2.0. When I connect my MP3 player to the computer it says that a hi-speed USB device has been connected and that I dont have hi-speed USB. I have installed SP1a and SP2. My motherboard didn't come with USB drivers so I'm using the standard windows XP drivers i think. Ive tried connecting it into the back USB ports (the ones attatched to the motherboard) but that made no difference. Under the device manager -> USB controllers it doesn't say that i have enhanced controllers. I know my MB supports USB 2.0 so where can i get USB 2.0 drivers?

Here is a link for USB 2.0 Drivers for your board. Unfortunately these are for 'Win9X" it says "for Windows XP, use the Windows update tool".

EPOX USB DRIVER

You may try logging on to the Windows update site and let it scan your system and see if it comes up with any new drivers.

Hope this helps.

Also,

It looks like the board uses a VIA chipset, you might try getting a USB 2 driver from VIA.

Just a thought :)

Ok I solved the problem, so I'm gonna post what i did for anyone who happens to search these forums with a similar problem.

What I did is i went to the device manager, click on Sis 7001 PCI to USB Controller and went to update drivers. It asked if i wanted to use windows update, i said no, I then clicked "Install from a list or specific location (advanced)", I then clicked "Dont Search, I will choose the driver". Now here is the important part, There is a little box that says "Show compatible hardware" and i unchecked it to show all the USB drivers. I then choose the USB 2.0 drivers and I tested it and it seems to work like a charm. Before when I was updating the drivers I didnt uncheck that box so it only gave me the two non USB 2.0 drivers to choose from.

Now I also downloaded a set of USB 2.0 drivers before i came across this from http://www.asus.com.tw/support/download/item.aspx?ModelName=P4S8X but got an error when installing them. The USB drivers I installed through the method above may or may not be from the asus site.
