Hi, I recently have been having a problem with my computer restarting out of nowhere, and games crashing to desktop for no reason. I have a message board going on Windows XP boards, and on annoyances.org . So far the annoyances.org one has been very helpful. But I would like more help. So far, i have gotten the suggestion to get a new power supply, which I am in the process of. I have all the latest drivers and programs. I find it difficult to run a virus scan beacuse I start it at night, and when I wake up, the computer is at the welcome screen, i check NAV and it says that no full system virusscan has been completed. I even reformatted 3 weeks ago, thinking that this would solve my problem with my games crashing. I even went out and bought a new video card, 'casue somebody told me that that would fix it. Nope, it fixed it for about a week, then it started acting up again. I am starting to think that DirectX 9.0 is causing the problems. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi.. high graphics means high heat make sure you have proper cooling your cpu should be no more than 60 degrees.. ... my p4 runs a 50-52 when playing mohaa and other graphic eating games might be the power supply as well..
For your anti virus make sure you disabled the screen saver and that you defrag your hard drive at least once a week.. a fragmented hard drive will take hours to scan as well you improve the chances of corrupting your files.. direct x9 works fine make sure you have all the latest patches for your games as well the latest drivers for your video card other that this your video card might be either too hot or defective as well...
Good luck!!

No 114 degrees F. lol.No, i have all the latest junk. I found the problem though. I went into my BIOS, looked for External Frequency, and lowered it. Everything works fine now! Thank you for your help though!
