So I reformatted my Roommates computer, and now, he cant run WoW without Explorer.exe spiking the processor to max. The game experiences incredible lag, any ideas?

System spec is:
AMD Athalon 64 3000+
ASUS K8N-VM Motherboard
ASUS EAX550 GS Video Card
1024 MB RAM
120 GB Seagate SATA Hard Drive
Pioneer 16X DVD Burner

Anything I am missing?

So are you saying it is running slower than it used to? If so, you probably haven't installed all the necessary drivers.

Particularly the motherboard chip set drivers, but also may need sound, graphics, network, etc. Below is a link to the downloads.

You may also need to apply SP3 and any other updates, such as IE 6/7/8.

Did you browse the web before installing anti-virus or spyware prevention programs. If so, search for spwyare and viruses to make sure your PC is clean.

If that's not the problem, I've heard of a problem where windows doesn't handle AVI files correctly causing high cpu usages with Explorer.exe. Check out this article and see if it helps: http://www.tweakxp.com/article36817...
