Hello,
I was wondering if someone could tell me how to hide the history from displaying in internet explorer. I am using IE 7 and when I click on view on the menu bar then explorer bar and click history, a side tab pops up and shows you your history. I don't want this, these computers are used by different users and I don't want another user to see what the last one was looking at. I know this is possible, Can I set this somewhere in the registry?
thanks

What if you just set IE to not keep history at all...

You could do this on the computer through Internet Explorer's settings, or you can do it with a GPO.

Normally the history is stored in the user profile. If your users are indeed "users" and not Administrators, then they won't be able to see anyone else's History.

Hello,
This computer is not part of a domain, it is part of a workgroup and the users are not members of the admin group, they are only members of the users group. What I want is so that when a user clicks view on the menu bar in IE 7 and then clicks the explorer bar, then clicks history, (the side tab pops up and shows the history). I don't want this to happen. I want it so when the user does this nothing pops up on the side tab showing the history. I know this can be done, probably using the registry.
thanks

So you don't want the users to have access to their own History?

Hi dumbob,
I went to the link you showed. What I want is when a restricted user clicks history under view, explorer bar,history- nothing will appear, no side window tab will show up on the left. Not sure the link you showed is what I want.

The easiest solution - IMO - is to have two computers - one for the "elite" users (members of the admin group) and one for the "not-so- elite" members. On the computer for the "not-so- elite" members, install DeepFreeze, so that after the first user is done with it, you just reboot the machine for the next user. All IE history will be gone after reboot.
