Appart from the Basic settings in xp like to turn off screensavers hide the menu bar and msconfig to turn off unnececerry programs loading up when xp starts, is there any other little nifty things you can turn on or off in xp to make it go faster and generaly get better performance from xp

The simplest solutions are the best and they are often save you money

Check for, and remove, Spyware ??
Spyware includes ----
Adware, Dialers, Browser Hijackers, Trojans, Cookies,
Key Loggers, Trackware, and other Malware while browsing the internet.

Most Virus and Spyware scans are likely to work better in Windows Safe-Mode.

Computer Speed and Performance May Decrease

When you open, then close programs, programs may not free up
RAM memory. That is called "Memory Leak".

Windows XP, by default, runs a lot of unneeded services. Follow the advice on this page to disable those you don't need.

There is some other site that takes pride in making xp faster by deleting un-needed cruft and reducing services but darn if I can't remember what it was.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.
