Hidden folders

When i try to open my documents and my pictures on my desktop the search results pops up. I have to click on search to see the files. I have tried to click on show hidden files in the folder options box but it doesn't stay and goes right back to "do not show hidden files. I went into the registry and changed hidden to option 1 also but still nothing changed. Please advise...
Summary: here is my problem... my anti virus scanner is telling me that i have a virus in C:\Documents and Settings\admin\My Documents\Complete but I can't see any folder called complete in My Doctuments fold...
Summary: I have a hidden folder named incinerate. I remember installing it a year or more ago and it does not show up in windows explorer. It is only evident in the open/save file menu of most other programs....
