Dell Dimension 1100, XPSP2Home Edition, hibernate will not disable. I unchecked enable in Power Options.
I am the administrator. I set power scheme to:
Turn off monitor: after 20 minutes, turn off hard disks: I tried 'never'
and 1 hr., System standby: after 20 minutes. When I click 'save as' for the
Power Scheme of Home/Office Desk, the error message says:"Indicates 2
revision levels are incompatible". I tried to delete and rename Power Scheme
(KB article), but same error message. Computer goes into Standby after 6
minutes, and then goes into hibernate after another six minutes. I have to
push button in tower to activate. The mouse acts slow and the computer is
very slow for about 8 minutes. HELP!!!!!!!!! I want standby after 20
minutes of sitting without activity. Manual standby works from Start , but
it lasts for only 6 minutes. Do I have to reload Windows? System Restore did
not help this. McAfee Security Center says no viruses or spyware. Are these
files corrupted? I really need help.

LURKSWITHIN: Thanks so much. I had tried this a month ago to no avail, but I did it again after reading your response. Weird thing..there was no delete, so I entered my name and saved applied it. Then I deleted Home/Office Desk as per KB article, and everything disappeared...leaving the Power Scheme box blue(I cannot write to it), and Unknown is over "Turn off Monitor, turn off Hard Disks, System Standby, and System Hibernate. Yikes!!!!I am at a total loss (pun) as to how to proceed. I am new to forums ..duh..and last night, I read many posts. Yours were the brightest, and your signature really rocks. Your name is outstanding. I was hoping you'd answer my post, and you did...what a freakout!!!!!!Please help...I can't receive updates, Mcafee virus scanning, etc. because computer is always hibernating. Then, when I use computer, it is so slow because the scanning, etc. is in the background using up my ram. Now, I have no idea what it is going to do. I will post again as soon as I see what the heck is going to happen. Please respond if you can think of anything in the meantime. THANKS lurkswithin. I am really worried about what I did.
