I have read previous posts regarding this issue, but their solutions do not help me. Basically when i come out of hibernate I lost my IP and it gets reset to something like the 162.x.x.x net. (I'm at work now and dont know the exact IP) I try running "ipconfig /release" and it eventually times out. I trying repairing the connection through the GUI and after a minute or so I get a dialog box saying "Repair Failed, Cannot renew IP address." I am running behind a soho router through a cable modem.

The only way to fix the problem is to reboot, which is annoying since hibernate is much more convienient. Any solutions?

You're probably having DHCP problems. You mention using a router between your modem and your computer. That requires local internet address like 192.168.0.1
Typically, the router has the local 192.168.0.1 address and as computers connect to the router, they get higher numbers like 192.168.0.2 and up to 192.168.0.255

Your cable modem only has the true internet address which may look like 162.74.56.112

Every local network system like yours, even the small ones like yours, have to use local IP addresses in order for each device to tell each other apart.

Search yahoo.com for info on DHCP and local Ip addresses.

Hey, this happens to me. All you do is goto network connections>Setup Network Setup Wizard. Then go through it and set it up. It should work if it doesnt, goto walmart and buy a bat so you can beat it up. j/k. all you have to do it restart and it should start working.
