After my 16 y/o son tried to change settings for a bluetooth connection - my internet is no longer working. Well, actually the DSL (through a telephone coop)shows to be connected at 100.0 mbps and my other computer which is on the same connection is still online. I think possibly he deleted a setting that helps it recognize the connection. When you try to sign on to MSN or Explorer it says that there is no connection detected. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!!!!!!

My 'guess' is that he disconnected your ISP connection in lieu of the Bluetooth.

Try going to Start, Control Panel, Network and Internet Connections, Network Connections.

There you should see the status of all connections to your PC.
If it shows as Disconnected or Disabled then Right click on it and select Enable.

Also doubleclick on it too in order to bring up it's Status page and then click on it's Properties button where you can place a check in the box next to "Show Icon in notification area when connected" Click Ok.

Sorry - I didn't mention that when I go to Network Connections in the control panel it shows LAN is connected and firewalled. It also shows the bluetooth network connection to be disconnected.

I am using a router. (The computer I am using now is using the same connection).

P.S. Thanks for the quick responses!!!!

Yo, this is the weirdo 16 YO that ruined it in the first place. I figured that we weren't the only people with this problem, so I googled "Conection not detected DSL", and brought up "the geek site" (I'm sure people here know what it is...). : P

Anywho, Winsock (sp) for XP was the only thing we needed for a fix, patched our settings right up. I hope that helps anyone else wondering around with the problem. ^o^

Oh, and thanks bunches for the help peoples, we apreciate the quick responses. ~_0 I'll be sure to keep a reference of this site somewhere off-comp just in case.
