hey.. my computer is consistently freezing with XP.. i have tried EVERYTHING...
i am running
athlon 1.2
m810 motherboard
512 mb ram..
i am loading on startup;
norton internet security
messenger
There is no specific time for the computer to freeze.. sometimes it doesnt get past the startup screen while other times it will let me use it for hours before freezing. i have tried filtering items through startup and yet still freezes when not loading anything.. (so not norton internet security!)
i cannot work out what can be causing this!!!!

MSN Messenger. Reinstall Internet Explorer 6 from the Microsoft website and you may find this fixes the problem. Otherwise, you have to work out the problem by eliminating hardware first, remove devices and see if this fixes the problem and if not, remove software. It's a long and drawn out process but one has to start somewhere. Give the IE6 thing a go first.

Have you checked your CPU cooling fan ? Do you have a good heat sink on the CPU ? Enter the BIOS setup and look at the temperature.
Possibly your video card needs a driver update.
Lastly, you may need a BIOS chip update.

Have checked my cpu temp.. all is fine there, and i have all newest drivers i need for my video and sound card.
how could i find out whether it is bios???

When all else fails...
Remove one stick of ram, and reboot. If it still freezes, swap the sticks and try again.
Be sure to unplug your box before removing or inserting the sticks.
