I recently purchased a computer, and installed WinXP and have been frequently been getting BSODS.
Here are my system specs:
Duron 1ghz
192 MB (SDRAM)
40 GB Maxtor 5400 rpm
Motherboard: DIF AM33-EC
Onboard Video and sound
Internet: Cable using USB connection.I have no clue why I get BSODS. The most frequent ones I get are IRQL_LESS_THAN_EQUAL. But once in a while, I get ambiguous or pagefile BSODS.
My question is, is there anyone else with similar specs and similar experiences? Someone, please help me, I am out of ideas. I have reinstalled 3x already!

The "IRQ_LESS.........." indicates a hardware problem.
However 256 mb is not necessary to run XP 128 plus will be sufficient.

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL messages usually points to a bad driver or incompatible software.
Does the Stop error also list a driver (or .sys file)? If so, what file?

i think this may be related to your motherboard. i have experienced the problems you describe & lots of others with am33-ec motherboards running windows xp. i have talked to DFI new zealand, with no results. i am in the process of upgrading the bios, the latest stable version quotes "Solve cannot install Windows 2000 when using AMD Duron 1GHz CPU." (Windows xp being based on 2000 technology). The link for dfi is http://sj.dfi.com.tw.

I have experienced similar "IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" errors and from what I can gather its definately related to incompatable software or drivers. I had Windows home edition and Blackice Defender 2.9 and experienced this problem every time I went online. I upgraded Blackice and it went away. Now I've installed XP Professional and Blackice 2.9 and it's back. Time to upgrade it again!!
