"NTLDR Is Missing" Error Message When You Upgrade or Install Windows XP Over Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows Millennium Edition
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314057

Do you have a disk in the floppy drive? You can boot from the XP cd and repair the installation of XP.

To resolve the error message "NTLDR is Missing" follow the below steps:
Boot the computer with a Windows Startup diskette or another bootable diskette with sys.com on it.
At the A:\> prompt type:sys c:
After pressing enter you should receive the prompt "System Transferred". Once the file system has been transferred reboot the computer without the diskette and that should fix it.I have never had that problem installing XP over a previous version of Windows, the only time I have come across it was when a client decided to Install XP and DOS 6.22 on seperate partitions and mistakingly installed XP first the tried to install DOS

the sys command DOES NOT reinstall the boot files!
the sys command copies Command.com, IO.sys, and MSDOS.sys.
the files needed to boot XP are NTLDR, NTDETECT, and BOOT.INI.

response 2 is correct..!! after all if youre deleting all the junk then just format your hard disk and install XP again.. or you can replace NTLDR by fixing your current installation using winXP setup cd... ;)

same s--- happened to me....windows xp sucks but you have to order the recovery cd's.... good luck on the 10 hours wait on the phone

to those of you saying that xp is s*** because of this, consider the fact that you are being the idiot by erasing files you dont' know the function of... theres some food for thought... ever wonder why there are loads of us out there that don't have problems with the OS? It's because we're not stupid enough to erase everything to free up a few kb and then whinge that it's the OS's fault.... geez... *flame suit on*

OK thanks for all the support..I only deleted some games that i ahd previously downloaded off the net..I hadn't played them in months..the next time I rebooted the error message was there..I have not said it was XP's fault..I know it was mine entirely..I was just asking for a little help..I have gotten into my pc with a disk with the 3 files mentioned above..boot.ini, ntdetect.com and NTLDR
but everytime i want ot get onto my pc i have to have that disk in..I have ordered some quickrestore cd's from compaq..and i have the recovery cd..I have no xp cd because it came pre-installed...I want to do a recover but i need instructions...
also how do you instruct this site to let you know that smeone has ersponded to your questions? I did not know that any responses were here until i came to post another question...also here is the link to my other question..relating to this:
