I got a question on behalf of my Brother in Germany , he only use WORDS + E/MAILS only.
The moment he gets into outlook express it turns off ,hence he can't send / read post or down load to find out which spy ware is responsible .
He's been paying for years for a firewall . I told him its all freeware , he told me its not free in Germany , the company told him he got 3 virus and they called the virus another name but they can't / able remove the virus .
I advised him to down load google in German ,and asked for sygate and AVG to download for a start or maybe even firefox , but he can't download till the culprit have been remove
Has anybody got a answer to his problem , I like to thank for any help and a very BIG THANKS in ADVANCE .

P.S. He got update on automatic ,but the PC has not been working for some time .

If he has his Dell reinstallation CD. Then tell hom to reformat the Hardrive and reinstall XP with the dell disk. He should be able to boot from the CD. He may have to enter the BIOS setup screen and set his CDROM to first boot device and his Hard drive second.

Good Luck.

It sounds like he is at the point where he is unable to use the computer so going into safe mode probably is not going to help. When things get that bad it is time to use the restore disks that came with the computer and start out all over with a fresh install and put it back to where it was when new.

Your brother should NOT be putting any faith in a firewall as a virus protection device. He probly has become infected by e-mail attachments. If he is able to boot from the distribution CD, he may be able to repair or restore the Operating System to its original configuration. The next immediate step should be virus scan and protection, without fail, even if he has to pay for it.
