I've been all through this forum and have noted other problems with XP Pro and NTL. I've tried EVERYTHING and I still can't get connected - is there anyone who knows of any other things I can try?
I've tried the NTL help pages and have contacted technical support (they're not very supportive!!).
Please help - this is driving me nuts!!!

heard a story once about someone contacting ntl support and the call gave the engineer his ip address and the engineer said
What is an IP address ??????

Sounds about right!! They told me to look at their help pages (after I told them I'd already done that!)

I'm on XP Home edition and have no problem with NTL - If you are in the UK you can count yourself lucky to actually get through to anyone in support ! I've waited an hour and never got through on many occasions

Thanks for your replies. I'm running Windows XP Pro and have been told by numerous NTL staff that is is supported by them and I shouldn't have any problems connecting.
I have been emailing technical support for the past month and they have NOW just told me that Windows XP Pro is NOT supported by them. I refuse to phone them at £1 a minute as they don't know what they're talking about anyway so email is quicker!
So, unless anyone knows any different (anyone running XP Pro with NTL????) then all the time I've spent setting up manual connections, installing and uninstalling NTL software and even reformatting has been a complete waste!

youre posting is about as poor as they're
tech support.you still have not posted any information of your hardware and software and the specific issue you are having!!!!!!!!!!

I have Windows XP Pro installed (AMD 1900XP Processor, 60GB HDD's & 512MB RAM) and am trying to use NTL as my ISP. I install the software (XP version of gearbox) and I have no problems dialling up to register my account. Then, when I try to connect to the Internet via their 0800 number, it won't have it. No dialling...no 'squeal' from the modem...nothing. I've tried all their settings on the help pages, have installed and uninstalled their software, tried manual connections and everything else I can think of...even reformatting (a number of times!).

I had problems with my brothers PC and NTL gearbox, disabled gearbox and made a connection manually and all worked OK, just make a connection with all the right numbers and start it manually. Might work, good luck.
