I need some help here...
I have a Sony PC with a USB wireless adapter. It shows a 100% STRONG signal connecting to the router and cable modem. Even though the signal is there, I can't conect to the web! When I click my IE icon, it just goes to the "Page Not Found" screen. Also the box comes up asking if I wanna connect, or work offline. Clicking connect does nothing. The router has another machine w/ 98 the connects fine, and a laptop w/ built in 802.11G and that connects fine. There is NO spy/adware on the machine. Thanks!!

is the machine picking up an IP from the wireless dhcp server? are you able to ping the server? if so can you ping outbound (yahoo.com)?
Go to Start>Run>cmd <--- type in box - press enter
a command prompt will come up, type in ipconfig and press enter if you get a 169.x.x.x that is a default IP, you should have an IP, a subnet mask, and a gateway
IF you do have those, type in the same command prompt ping yahoo.com if you get a reply then you need to check your browser settings, and/or you might need to run a program called Winsockfix located at www.eternalisp.com it is a small utility that will fit on a floppy, it replaces your TCP/IP stack and winsock reg entries...if you can't ping yahoo.com post back what the error is or if the ping came back with 'request timed out'Complete Computer Service Inc.

If your iSP is Comcast, it may not have been your fault. Comcast had nationwide outtages yesterday. they should be fixed by now.

Josh,
Thank you very much, I will give it a shot and let you know!!
Cyclone,
I did notice the outage at times lastnight, I thought it was me, till a buddy here at work asked if my i-net was funky lastnight too. When I was working on it I do know it was working, cause the main computer was connecting. Thanks for the input though!!
