Specs: Windows XP, 384MB
Ok, for the last like five days, ive had a problem with this dell desktop. I havent been able to allow a Dial Up connection Set up, ive tried everything i can think of to solve this problem. Ive tried makeing a connection with a diff comp and shareing it, or copying the short cut for it, ive tried to make it work throught Computer Management, services and applacations. And much more. But im still not able to make a dial up connection. How can i solve this problem. Usually when i try to make the connection throught (Network and Internet Connections. Create a connection to the nerwork at your workplace and others. For some reason i cant get network connections to pop up for me. Ive also tried to use the option "Set up or Change your Internet Connection/Set up or Add) then it allows me to select Connect to the network at my workplace. I continue to Create the following Connection. With options of dial up conection or VP Network Connection but both are greyed out and non-selectable. Also through Set up or change your internet connection i click add and it gives me an error message Cannot Load the Remote Access Connection Manager Service Error 711. So i try to goto (right Click my comp, Click manage, Service and apps, Services, and try to start R,A,C,M,S. Then it gives me Error 5: Access is Denied. So i try to start Remote Access Auto Connection Manager Service then it gives yet another Error Message. Error 1068: The Dependency service or group failed to start. So how else can i go about this problem?

... insert XP CD

... from cd menu click "install optional windows components"

... [OR go to control panel add/remove programs add/remove windows components]

... check "networking services" [also double click it]

... check "internet gateway device discovery and control client"
*********************************************************************
... common fault (above) to connect broadband ethernet, for dial-up also double click anything "net" related... if you see it greyed out check it double click and make your selections

... the cd will install then ask to reboot!

I am confused, lol. I double clicked networking services, nothing in there is greyed out lol. but all it says when i double click it is.RIP Listener 0.0MB, Simple TCP/IP Services 0.0MB, Then Universal Plug and Play 0.2MB. The only thing thats greyed out is when i goto make a new dial up connection and it looks like this, http://forums.speedguide.net/showth...
But im getting Error 1068 when trying to set up Remote access connection manager. And im trying to make a dial up connection. ive tried everything i can think of to fix the problem.

... when I mentioned "greyed out" I am refering to adding optional windows components...although "checked/ticked" (some are slighty darker ...greyer) there may still be other components like tcp over ip that also need ticking to install the components... anything "internet" related!

... sorry if I am not explaining too well

... I got out the wrong side of the bed!
