I use outlook for email and I keep getting alot of spam. My ISP (Bellsouth) says there is not much I can do. I get about 5 a day from all over the place. Is there a way to stop it or block each email that sends it to me?

I am looking for something that is free and somewhat user friendly since I am not to bright when it comes to computers and internet.

Thanks for any help

Here is link to a program i use all the time http://www.mailwasher.net/main.php It allows you to delete emails before downloading them from the server, most interesting is the fact that you can bounce emails back to spammers with a fake 'there is no such email address'.

Hope this eases the pain.

The settings to delete unwanted messages vary depending on wheather you have MS Outlook or Outlook Express.
In MS Outlook right click the e-mail (in Inbox) and select 'Create Rule'. Pick your options from there.

There is not much available as far as free spam filtering software, and what you can get will not be very efficient, however you can try:-

Bellsouth gave me the ability to have 5 email addresses when I signed up with them. Create a new one, use your old one to sign up for stuff on the net and give your new one to your friends only and never put it on the internet thus creating a spam mailbox decoy(your old email) and a real one for your friends(new email).

This is what I did Mike.

I have 4 with Bellsouth now and I only give out two of them. I only use the same two when I sign up for crap etc. I still get spam to all 4 accounts on a daily basis. The only email I acutally use for friends is my main email account which oddly enough does not get spammed. The other 4 do LOL.

Thanks though.

I have tried (and purchased!) every available spam blocker. A wonderful program is MailWiper - tho' not a "freebie" it is incredibly user-friendly (three short and simple configuration steps requiring NO changes to your email account) and is near 100% effective. I am surprised that this program is not more widely known. Give it a try (there may even be a shareware version).

Good luck!
