My roomate and I are having trouble sharing our internet connection evenly. We are connected through a D-Link DI-704P Router and have Suscom Cable (Terrible btw after using Comcast) Anyway, with comcast, bandwidth was shared fairly evenly, and we had no problems playing farcry online together. But now with Suscom, if he is downloading ANYTHING at ANY speed (even a torrent at 3-5KB/s, I can only download at maybe 5-10KB/s. Also, we can no longer both play farcry. If I log in to ubi.com and create a game, he times out every time he ties to log in of join my game.

I was just wondering if anyone knows of a setting we might be overlooking that is hindering our connection? or is there a proram that can help evenly distribute bandwidth? Thanks in advance for any help!

The ISP can't help with activity behind the router on the LAN. The ISP just sees the WAN side of the router with 1 IP address.

Dlink supposedly has good customer support. I would contact them.

To my knowledge, no inexpensive home router has equal bandwidth sharing. One user doing a download frequently monopolizes the line.

If Dlink says they can control bandwidth, please let us know.

Your BitTorrent client is probably making too many connections, which then chokes your connection. Check the BT client's configuration: there should be a setting to limit the maximum number of connections. If there isn't, get another client.

Might also check and see if DLink has a firmware upgrade for your router, too.

Current IP technology can't really do a whole lot to allocate bandwidth unless it's done from the server side of a connection.
