Hello EVERYONE!I'm having challenges configuring a network composed of 12 computers- to have a workgroup.
I use the Network SetupWizard and named their workgroup the SAME NAME.
But when I restarted the computers, they can't see each other IN the My Network Places, under the workgroup name (in our case, OXFORD workgroup).
Inside My Network Places -> OXFORD, no computers seen, or sometimes even "The workgroup OXFORD is not accessible..."
I want help and I also have a question. When I'm asked to insert a floppy disk in the 'Create a Network Setup Disk', should I just pick 'Just Finish the Wizard, I don't have to run the Network Setup Wizard on other computers' ... OR I have to make one or use my Windows XP CD?
ALL the computers in my network are running Windows XP.
Is a Network Setup Disk NECESSARY?
Or can I make the network workgroup run without the disk?
PLUS, if you can give me a complete STEP BY STEP procedure on how to make this workgroup work, I will really appreciate it.
Thank you very much friends!

Fernan, sounds to me like you might be able to benefit from the networking tutorial to be found @:

I have a vague recollection thatWin2K & XP can only handle TEN incoming connections hence limiting the size of a workgroup to that figure.
Above that M$ want you to buy server & software.

"Workgroups are quite useful for groups of less than 10 computers and may be used with groups as large as 25 to 50 machines." - Page 13, MCSE Guide To Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Tittel & Stewart.
Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.

You are correct but in practice if you use XP or W2K machine as a central file source ONLY TEN machines can access that source at the same time. This nothing to do with a workgroup it is a limitation on the client software.
