Windows XP won't start!!
When you start-up, a BSOD comes up and tells you that it hasn't booted properly.
"Last Known Good Configuaration" just follows the same pattern.
When you go onto "Safe Mode" and perform "System Restore" it happens again!
Looking at lots of websites, we reckon we have a driver problem, but when we run SIGVERIF it tells us that all drivers are signed so we have no idea where to go from there!!
Occasionally, it decides to run a disk-check but still will not boot!!!
We've deleted as many unecessary programs in Safe Mode as possible (Some can't be un-installed in Safe Mode) and can't really think of anything else to do!
We'd obviously like to sort this out ourselves, and avoid having to send the PC off and pay lots of money!!
We are soooooo close to just chucking our PC out of the window, and need some MAJOR help!!

When you boot into safe mode, try going to event manager under services. Look for the time listed when the BSOD happened-it might give you some useful information about what is causing the problem. If you have it set so that the computer does not reboot, then jot down thw numbers and post them here or search on google. If system restore didn't solve the problem, it might be a hardware issue. You should run memtest to check the memory,

and also run a check on the hard drive.

Yes the Event Viewer is an excellent source for finding the cause of different problems.
Don't post if you ate razor blades for breakfast!

Oops I wasn't intending to correct you, but just back you up because I've had a lot of success with the Event Viewer. It has helped me diagnose a lot of problems. :)

If you don't have any luck with the above suggestions, try a memory test:

There is a version to create a bootable floppy diskette and/or an ISO for creating a CD. Run it for a couple of hours, at least. It might also be a good idea to download and run a diagnostic from the hard drive manufacturer's web site.

Yes, the repair is a good idea. Try fixboot, if that doesn't work you may just need to back up your important files and reload xp. Thats the fastest method anyway.

Note that if you do a repair install, all the windows updates will be gone. Not a big deal, but you should be aware that it's going to happen.
