Hi guys,

I tried to upgrade my computer earlier from Windows XP Home to XP Pro, the installation was going OK, I left it to run.

However, when I came back an error appeared on the screen saying something like:

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

And it also said loads of numbers, the screen was blue also and said windows had to shut down to save it from being damaged.

Now my computer just wont even go into windows, i dont know what to do, to make it worse it is my dads computer and he is going to kick off!!

Does anybody know how I can get it to work, even without Windows XP Pro? When I restart the computer it just goes back to this error page.

I Apprectiate all your help guys...

Aarron

Cheers,

This link touches on the problem at the bottom, its says about upgrading to Windows XP Pro, however it does not say how to get it working, it just says it should be done before hand.

Any ideas? Here is the link.

Use the home CD and run the system repair.-How to do a system repair.--Boot from the xp cd and go past the recovery console to the install menu. Select repair the existing installation. You won't lose any data except the xp updates. Unless you have a slipstream sp1 cd you will have to d/l sp1 and all subsequent updates. Be sure the firewall and A/V is active before going online as you will be susceptible to sasser and msblaster. If you don't want SP2 go to autopatcher.com and d/l SP1 and subsequent updates.

Please post back within 24 hours or I will delete the post from my follow up list. Thanks.

You said the install did not complete. Try the repair from home and if that doesn't work try pro.

Don't know about repair disks. Repair is done from the XP CD.
