I was trying to clean things up and delete unused folders. An unused shared folder contains what is listed as 20KB jpg. I am unable to open it to see what it is, although it is listed as "pokemon" I right click on it, but no "delete" function appears. When I try to delete the folder I get the message "Can not delete pokemo~1.jpg: Cannot find the specified file. Make sure you specified the correct path and file name." How do I get rid of this?

The file is corrupt, and the operating system, although able to see it, cannot find it. Go to 'Start/Run' and type in 'chkdsk /f'. Hit enter....the message will say it can't run because the volume is locked, and ask you if you want to run chkdsk the next time you start your computer. Type 'y' and restart. Usually, chkdsk will fix this problem.

Well, I tried that, thanks but it does not want to show me what it is, no worries. But How can I delete this. I still get the same message. How do I delete this. I am also unable to re name it etc. Any suggestions?

I can't delete anything off my c drive. But I can cut from the c drive and paste into the d drive and then delete the files and folders. Can someone explain what is going on and how I can get my c drive back in order. I already tried what Dan VH in the above letter did with the chkdrive thing and that didn't work. i cleaned the drive, checked the drive, defraged the thing, did a virus scan, i even gave it a kiss! I also can't seem to get the properties in network connections to come up either. very confusing. please e-mail me at to13040@cedarnet.org thanks, Tom Ogle

I know exactly what will work ... Wipe Delete 1.0! Go to www.download.com and download this compact deletion utility program and you'll be able to get rid of almost any files.
If that doesn't work you can always tryout microsoft's solution "Cannot Delete Files or Folders with Extended Characters (Q131702)". I've tried this before and it works also!
