Comment:

Is there any way to remove, or delete the actual line items in the Start Up tab on the System Configuration Utility. I know I can check them to not auto load each time windows XP boots up, but is there a way to remove the actual line item. I currently have way too many apps. showing up that I currently will never use and would like to delete them from even showing on the menu.

Start/Run type in "regedit" without the quotes

Go to Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\SharedTools\MSConfig\

Look under both "startupfolder" and "startupreg"

Remove the items from there and they will no longer show up when you run MSCONFIG and go to the startup tab.

KTTD

P.S. Set a restore point just in case you goof up

Back up the registry as well. It can never hurt to have an actual copy of it, instead of just a restore point.
