I recently upgraded my computer from Windows ME to Windows XP. Everything seems to be working fine except my Lexmark Z32 Ink Jetprinter. It takes a lot longer to start printing, and when it does start it pauses and sometimes even skips entire lines. I went to the tech support of the Lexmark Website, but they didnt have much help.

My computer specs: Intel Celeron 333MHz, 192 MB RAM, Windows XP Home Edition.

I was thinking maybe my system is too slow to handle both Windows XP and a printer??? Any help would be great! Thanks

Hi Tyler.

Did you install the Windows XP driver for your printer?

If you have the latest XP drivers, is your printer connected to your computer through another device such as a scanner, zip drive, or hub?

If so, try connecting it directly to the computer.

Take care,

Linda

I have tried updating to the latest driver for Windows XP and I did have my printer connected through my scanner, but I just discovered that it has a USB connection. I connected it through a USB cable and things seem to be a little faster but they dont seem to be as fast as it was when I had Windows ME. I guess this will be fast enough as long as it doesnt skip any lines while printing. Thnaks for the help!

You should definately consider more RAM, ASAP. XP uses 128 MB's just to run itself, that leaves you with only 64 megs for anything other than XP. The more RAM you have the faster your system will run. 256 would be a good improvement, but I would go with 512 at least. My pc came with 256 and I added another 256, the difference was amazing. Good luck :)
