Help please slow pc

I have a AMD Athlon XP 2200+ 256mb ram and my pc is acting slow for example when I go into windows media player and click something it pauses and then carrys on 10 seconds later I have turned off all visual features and some services done msconfig so now im stuck done alot of tweaking help please

Well I would install another stick of memory. Did you install the service pack? That has slowed down a many of computers.

No I havnt got SP1 do you need more than 256mb with XP? Is there any programs or anything that can tweak my PC really good programs?

I would do the memory upgrade because I was running 256 and when I upgraded to 512 I saw a 35% increase in performance. Also check the BIOS to make sure your multiplier and bus speed is correct. I have noticed that some BIOSs we reset the defaults if they beleive something to be wrong with the board. As far as Tweaking the system, try TweakUI, or RAMBoaster. TweakUI allows you to easily mod the registry without know it and RAMBoaster will allow you to monitor the RAM usage and freeup RAM if you need to.
