Ok, i feel bad posting this as there are plenty of similar cases which i have looked through many times but their solutions will not solve my problem. I have a Windows XP Pro computer and a Windows ME computer. Both are hooked up to a netgear router/modem/firewall/hub etc. They are both connected to the internet through the modem/router thing. I had them networked when they were both running windows me and i had no problems. Now i upgraded one to windows xp pro, i am having networking problems. The XP Pc can view and access the WIndows ME pc no problem. The Windows ME pc can see the windows xp pc but not access it. I get the error message: \\(computername) is not accessible. No permission to access resource.
ok, so i've checked the following things:
1) I havnt got zone alarm installed. The modem/router/firewall is set up to allow IP addresses in from range 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.4.
2) simple sharing is disabled on xp pc. I have shared one of my folders and allowed Everyone permission, full access.
3) They are both part of the same workgroup (called WORKGROUP)
4) Both computers are running FAT32 file systems
5) User on XP computer is has administrative rights.
6) User on windows me does not need to log in to use windows.
7) Both computers connect to the internet fine
this is really frustrating as i have tried so many things, i would be so gratefull if someone has any ideas to solve this problem. thank you in advance
Gaetan

You must have a user ID set up on the XP box to allow the M[iserable] E[xcuse for an OS] box (you really should dump this OS)and login to the ME box using that ID. The ID will have whatever access rights you assign on the XP box.

If there is no ID set up on the XP box the ME box is not a member of 'Everyone'.

I hope you are fully grated.
