Do you have a router and is DHCP enabled in it?
Is it wired or wireless?
Also have a look in your Hosts file.
c/windows/system32/drivers/etc
Open the hosts file with notepad
You can safely edit this file to delete everything below the line :
127.0.0.1 localhost

Save and exit

You may want to create a backup of the hosts file first

From the command prompt, type "ping www.google.com" without quotes, press enter, and see if you get a reply.

Nokes, How old are you? "my daddy can fix anything, and beat up your dad" Childish comments like that aren't acceptable here.

Set your TCP/IP to DHCP.

And who is "She?"

Wait.. so you left the DNS field blank and you're wondering why you can't resolve any hostnames?

Go buy a networking book.

Holy Wow.

And you should either edit that childish comment above, or explain why you posted it.

Jennifer I think the young man's comment was very tongue in cheek... a bit humourous really.

Right. And, we don't have an answer as to how the issue was resolved.

he used the command prompt and used "ipconfig/flushdns" to purge the DNS cache, until it finally reset, then used "ipconfig/displaydns" to see if it worked.

Sorry for acting so childish, i thought humour was a trait ALL humans have
