hello. i need a help or an advice. i am using windows XP professional, now i want to format my PC but i want to save some datas like MY DOCUMENTS, MY FOLDER, AND MY WORKFOLDER three folders. I have only C: drive. My folders are big so i cannot save them on discs. Is there any way to save them making a backup or something. if is any way help please. thanks...

The only thing I would sugguest is to partition your drive, 1 for data and the other system/OS. Format your systems drive then reinstall your os on it. Only use this if getting a DVDRW is out of the question.

what is the total size of the data files? There are pen drives (jump drives)that go to 1gig and maybe higher now, you could also get another HDD to mount as a slave and transfer your files to it. I would be very careful to add another partition to your existing drive to store the info as I have seen many horror stories about lost data and even a lost OS.

Get yourself some removable storage. Not only is it capable of handling more data than a CD its super fast. I bought a 1gig cruzer mini usb drive last year and i have yet to use anything else to transfer/back up data.
All sorts of options exist. Flash cards, memory sticks, usb "jump drives", usb external HD's etc. The external HD's usually have more space for the cash but the smaller drives are easy to take with you. And you will be taking data with you because now it can fit into your pocket.

I agree with everyone on the jump or flash drives, but you see so many posts on here and elsewhere about how unstable they are. You know I would bet for less money, you could buy an 80 gb external hard drive, that will always work.
