Did you try with your personal firewall of microsoft? (SP2 Windows ver. only)

Sometimes the MS firewall and the Securtiy Center can cause that on many software who needs internet conection or DNS conection.

HOW TO FIX IT?

1. Go to Control Panel
2. Double clic on "Windows Firewall"
3. Clic on "Exceptions" slack
4. Check for the Name of the program you want to enable to access DNS (uncheck it for enable)

WARNING! DO NOT TURN OFF THE NORTON FIREWALL, IT IS THE MOST BETTER IN THE MARKET. ALSO YOU CAN DISABLE THE MICROSOFT FIREWALL BUT NOT THE NORTON INTERNET SECURITY.

How did you turn of Norton? I have noticed that many times just disabling the beast doesn't do the trick. I would recommend going straight to Services and disabling any "Norton..." or "Symantec..." services as that is the ONLY sure way to know it's not still running and blocking.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks.

First of all, NEVER turn off your firewall when using a P2P program...you may have a DSL modem problem. Call your ISP and let them know, they should have good tech support for cases like this.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

for a permanent fix, you are correct, you don't want to turn off your firewall, but for diagnosing possible network issues and/or blocked ports/ips/services/clients/etc. then turning off your firewall is sometimes the easiest and first best bet.

I have seen way too many inferior firewalls that won't completely let you configure specific ports/protocals. How else are you going to rule out it being blocked by the firewall if a) it can't be correctly configured, or b) if you don't turn it off?

It's a good first step in trouble-shooting sometimes.
