I wasn't quite sure where to turn on this matter so I thought I'd give this support forum a try.

I am a first time web page designer. I'm not using any sort of program I've been designing web pages with wordpad and using a microsoft internet browser to check my progress. Well all was fine on my computer when I checked it, however, when I transferred the files over, which mirror my directory exactly, none of my backgrounds show, and most of my pictures don't.

I have a variety of .JPEG and .GIF, however, some of them show up and some of them don't. There dosen't seem to be any consistency here. I've spelt them all the same, between the file name and the actual syntax.

I just don't get it. It all worked out fine on my computer.

You can check it out for yourself at:

Any help would be great! Thanks.

Shane

Ok, me again. Well I just went through and changed all of the backgrounds to .GIF. This seemed to have worked. Why would that change anything? Most of the pictures on here are .GIF, some of them are .JPG. Now some of these .GIF pics are displayed while some are not and the same goes for .JPG.

This is driving me crazy...well if anyone has any answers that would be awsome.

Thanks again. Shane

Well, it's been a few years since I've done webpage work and I used mostly Frontpage for layout and Photoshop for graphics. Did most of my text layout in CorelDraw.
Your backgrounds all came in beautifully, so I dont' know why you can't see them. but non of your pics did. I'm trying to remember something in Frontpage about setting up a special file for all graphics, and I just can't remember. I am sure your problem is just loading, wish I could help you more! Darn, I got to get back into that, I love graphics.

I do not think you can use hyphons or spaces in the image link text - rename and try again.

Just a first impression and I am not a hand html coder so .. . good luck.

( I could be right? )
Let us know if that helps or whatever does.

Hello Shane, just went to your site and the image didn't show so I right clicked "properties" and the image url was http://www.tc.umn.edu/~mada0021/stages.GIF
I pasted in address box and nothing. My ftp software automatically changes everything into lower case. So I pasted this http://www.tc.umn.edu/~mada0021/stages.gif
and there it was. Don't know if this is your problem or not.
