Try updating your video card drivers,if that does not work when you've logged on to your pc right click on my computer icon(either on your desktop or on your start menu)then click on propeties then click on the advanced tab then click on the third settings button where it says Startup and Recovery then a box will appear then uncheck Automatically Restart then try playing your game again then you will see a blue screen then record the error message and the error code(at the bottom of the screen) and record the file too if there is one.
I also have a Dell Dimension 8100 with normal xp sp3,1.5ghz P4,20GB hd,256MB,cd-rom and cd-rw(also floppy drive and a Geforce 2 MX agp graphics card)
