CPU/Ram: 300mhz 265

i have just up graded my windows mediaplayer and still can not get a picture the sound is fine i'm running xp pro and am pretty much computer illiterate, so please any responses in laymens terms, i can only access the visualisation patterns

Try changing the display settings Color Quality to a higher setting. I had a video that would not play in 16 bit mode but when I changed it to 24 bit mode it played fine.

If you're not sure how to do this, go to Control Panel, Display, then the Settings tab.

Sounds like you need to install the appropriate video codecs for your video files. Go to the following site and download and install the codecs.

http://www.divx-digest.com/software/nimo_pack.html.

If this doesn't work, search for and download the xvid codec as some video files use this codec.
