I am trying to prepare for the worst. A crashed hard drive on my laptop.
I am having trouble understanding how to rescue my files using DOS(not programs, just information files).
I need help to move my files from C to the built in burner ( I hear it is easier to move them to a floppy drive, but I do not have one.)
I tried online tutorials and got confused.
Thanks for your help!!demiurgic

I take it that what you want to do is back up your data files: documents, financial info, etc. (There is no DOS in XP.)
One way to do it is to put a blank RW CD in your CD-ROM drive, and copy whatever files you want to that CD. You can simply copy them, drag them, or use XP's move utility in the toolbar. This is, in fact, easier than copying them to a floppy since you'll be copying from now until Sunday.
Don't know of this helps or not. If you need more basic instructions, post back.
