when i buy my PC,it already installed win. 2000 pro.then i tried to use win XP,but i find win 2000 pro much better than XP.when i tried to install win 2000 pro back,it say "this CD-ROM is from an older version of Windows than the one you are presently using.Setup functionality from this disk will be disabled."I really need win 2000 pro to do my work.Explain to me clearly.plz help me...or u can mail me- maam_13@hotmail.com

just format the harddrive and reinstall win2000. I bet you felt xp was somewhat sluggish and unstable. If you install sp1 and disable pretty menu stuff,such as menu shadow,xp works tolerably.

Yeah, you will not be able to uninstall XP if its on top of W2k.
Turn off all the eye-candy, indexing, animations, etc that are hogging extra system resources. Make sure your running at least 256mb of memory too.
There are many tricks to speeding up XP if ya just go to google, or where ever, and search for say "Speed Tips for XP"(keep the quotes, they work wonders)
If not, heed the advice of 'jap' here, and just reformat-wipe the hard drive clean, and reinstall W2k from scratch, along with all the other stuff on your drive. Nah, try the speed tricks for XP first and get more memory, its cheap these days.

seem like you are trying to install win2k from within win xp? you can not install win2k from within windows xp, you have to boot from cd and choose a clean install....
