For the past 2 days, computers on my home network are exhibiting the following behavior:
1. Outlook Express only occasionally able to retrieve messages from Hotmail. Otherwise getting "Method Not Allowed" message.
2. Several websites intermittently unreachable: symantec.com, yahoo.com, google.com, hotmail.com.
3. Small graphics (probably GIF's) load only intermittently on some websites -- usually my.yahoo.
Network is a home phoneline network (crappy, I know, but it's always been reliable). The web serving computer is the worst on the network but doesn't seem to have the problem. Recently installed Win XP SP2 on all computers, but the didn't have this problem for the first few weeks.
I think I read on MS support site that Outlook Express would soon not be available for Hotamil except for premium accounts, but mine is a premium account so should not be a problem, and besides, it does work sometimes.
Seems kind of "viral" or "spy-ware-ish" but Norton defs are up to date, no viruses detected in full scan. Ran Spybot, Ad-aware, Spyware Doctor, and Bazooka, cleaned some items out, nothing shows up now.
I restarted the cable modem and initially got OE to work, so I thought I had solved the problem the easy way, but several minutes later it was back.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe I solved my own problem. I changed the default and alternate DNS servers from "obtain automatically" to 2 (more or less chosen at random) I found on Google. All working fine now.
