Trying to help someone they are getting 2 messages when online and then it says close or ignore. I know the one is pointing to symantic so have asked them if they un-installed Norton recently or something because they cleaned up the computer and I bet they deleted something needed. Found that file here. would they install this to stop if from popping up?

The first one that is WINNT, anyone know if that's realted to the other file or what it is and what they can do to fix it? Mary

C:\WINNT\SOFTWA~1\Download\4FB06B~1\update.exe
C:\PROGRA!l\Symantec\S32EVNT1.DLL. An installable VIrtual Device Drive failed D11 installation

Tell them to perform a system restore from the satrt menu. Start> help & support> system restore. Choose a date that preceeds this issue.

So, what was the answer? Did the person uninstall something improperly? Meaning..not using the Add/Remove Programs?

Has he/she tried reinstalling whatever was uninstalled?

A little more detail would help a bunch.

Symantec is usually a pretty good source for errors when using their programs. A search brought up these results:

Waiting to hear and it sounds like they don't remember what they un-installed, just cleaned up the compuer in a hurry withouth thinking I guess. Will have them try system restore and see if that helps. Mary

First have them try a system restore as described. If that doesn't work then post back. We may need to know what type of WinXP CD they have. If restore CDs or full installation disks.
