I recently tried to install EZ-CD Creator 5 Platinum but during the process I got a DIRECT CD 5 Drivers not compatible message during the installation. When it rebooted after installation it said some drivers were not compatible and it disabled them and placed me in safe mode.
I then went to roxio site and got the two updates ECDC_v5.02d_up and Xp_up. I installed XP_up then went to install ECDC_v5.02d_up but it said no valid Roxio drivers available. So I re-did this numerous times and got the same message over and over.
Now I have uninstalled all of it but my computer still remains in safe mode where the desktop is in lowest setting. I can't even raise the settings as the bars wont move in display properties. I get that bubble that says Im in lowest settings but when I tell it to let windows automatically adjust it does nothing either.
Please post if anyone has ANY knowledge as to why this this has occured and what I should do about it. This is a brand new system with XP on it.

Run system restore and are you sure you are in safe mode? Just because it looks like it doesn't mean it always is. The reason you got wacked is because you didn't download the patches first and install the software correctly. Also, don't install Direct CD or Take Two. If you follow the directions for installing the patch and software according to Roxio it works just fine.

Thanks for the help, Kevin - it did resolve my "safe mode" problem. BUT I tried reinstalling - the same as before (I never installed Take Two either)only this time left out Direct CD. Still didnt work as the ECDC_v5.02d_up would still say no valid Roxio located.

ever botherd going to there web site and download the patches?? that what I did and everything of mine (take 2, direct cd, etc...) works
