I had XP installed on my HDD. Then I partitioned my HDD with Partition Magic. Then installed Windows Me on the new C: partition.

Now I cannot dual boot! How can I tell XP to dual boot? It is already installed on F: partition which Windows Me cannot see it.

The console recover option "R", what's it purpose, can it be used to create dual boot?

You will need to reinstall windows XP so that you can get the XP Boot manager installed on your Boot disk. Windows ME has over written the FAT on your disk. Windows XP CD is bootable, so all you need to do is Boot with that in.

Windows ME should be on the start of the partition on the Primary Hard drive.
XP can be installed on any partition on any hard drive.
If you have Partition Magic. You should have BOOT Magic. I would use That (boot magic) to tell what OS you whant to boot..
NOTE! boot magic will only install and operate on a FAT 16 or FAT 32 partition
So I would install boot magic on the Windows ME partition.

Also If you have partition magic installed all you need to do is right click on the partition you would like to boot to, select advanced options, then select set partition active.
It will ask you to reboot then it will start up in that partition.

Good Luck

I can install partition magic on Windows Me right now. But, when at startup, I want to be asked to which OS to boot.

So "boot magic" would do that? If not, is there any other way, I don't want to reinstall XP all over again.

I believe you will need to do that in order to get the Boot selection menue that you are requesting. you HAVE to rebuild the MasterBootRecord, the only way I know of doing this is to reinstall windos XP

I have (had?) installed win98 and win2000 in a dual boot system; win 98 was installed in a basic partition and 2000 was in a logic partition. then I tried to change the size of the first partition (win98) with partition magic, but as I realized then it was useless to do it, I set it back to its original size. After rebooting, win98 would not boot and the win2000 loader would take me to win2000. Anyone who could help me regarding this?
Thanks in advance
